Arts in Action Visual Art Program is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides a fine art education to children of all ages regardless of economic status. This framework provides the necessary information and guidance to assist State and Territory governments to evaluate existing programs, consider new directions and identify new partners to support arts and health initiatives appropriate to each jurisdiction.

Last year, we helped create a mosaic mural with Healing Arts at Atlantic Health System’s Artist in Residence, Kathy Casper; met with the NJ artists that have artwork displayed in the University Medical Center of Princeton in Plainsboro and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden; and toured all three facilities.

Since a 2002 World Health Organization publication by the name of The World Report on Violence and Health, 1 violence has been established as a worldwide public health problem rather than just a security and criminal justice issue. Healing architecture, art installations, natural lighting, and access to healing gardens all help to decrease patient and caregiver stress, improve outcomes, enhance patient safety, improve way-finding, and increase overall quality of care. There was no upper limit of grant that can be applied for, however applicants are asked to take note of previous grants awarded for an indication of realistic award figures. This double-blind peer-reviewed journal provides artists, researchers, healthcare professionals, educators, therapists, programme administrators and funding bodies an opportunity to report and reflect upon innovative effective practices. For many health professionals, the arts are an invaluable creative outlet and reflective tool.

Narrative or history painting was another important genre in Romanticism: leading exponents include: Francisco Goya (1746-1828) Henry Fuseli (1741-1825), James Barry (1741-1806), Theodore Gericault (1791-1824) and Eugene Delacroix (1798-63), as well as later exponents of Orientalist painting , and moody Pre-Raphaelites and Symbolists.

This website will introduce you to the staff, and to the courses and facilities on offer to those with an interest in the study of art, its forms and techniques, its history and place in society, and in particular, the ways in which art images, objects and structures can be read and interpreted.

The undergraduate program is designed both to prepare students for advanced graduate study in the history of art and to provide students with a broad, humanistic background for many other fields that require the ability to undertake independent research, evaluate visual and textual evidence, to write effectively, and create intelligent arguments.

Art History offices and seminar rooms are located in Fayerweather Hall, where faculty and students enjoy close proximity to the Fralin Museum, Ruffin Hall and the Studio Art program, the Fine Arts Library, and the School of Architecture. In first year, students follow the BA (Omnibus) programme, combining History with three other subjects. Many work as curators, teachers, and administrators in the arts (see Alumni pages).
