Evidence shows that arts education provides students with the skills to think creatively, to innovate, and to become tenacious learners ready to solve complex problems—all skills that employers are increasingly looking for in the 21st century. EDUC607 focuses on concepts related to educational questions and issues of today, such as social justice.
The A+ Schools Program uses the arts as a catalyst for creating connections and making schools engaging, meaningful and enjoyable places to teach and learn. Per SBE Rule , students must achieve one high school level unit of Fine Arts in order to graduate with a high school diploma. Another quarter of alumni advocate for the arts within schools as teachers, administrators, and curriculum developers. A series of four, high quality, participatory arts lessons that are based on engaging works of public art situated around the state.
The core AIE faculty consists of individuals with deep experience in both the research and practice of arts-based education. An effective education in the fine arts helps students to see what they look at, hear what they listen to, and feel what they touch. LISA STARK: Parker-Brass is the district’s arts director, a job she jumped into five years ago after two decades with the Boston Symphony.
