The N.C. Arts Council understands that the arts create opportunities for success for all students in many areas of learning and life. Depending on a student’s particular background, interests and educational qualifications, the programme prepares graduates to engage with formal educational structures as well as informal learning environments, such as skill-sharing workshops and community-based projects.
Field experience – There are many progressive arts in education organizations and advocacy groups in the Cambridge and Boston area For-credit internships through the Field Experience Program are one cornerstone of the AIE experience, offering hands-on opportunities to work with local artists and youth in school and after-school settings.
Due to the wide variation in the way courses are taught at the middle school level (some are yearlong, some are 9 weeks and some are 6 weeks), these may be used to represent 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade levels. People from all walks of life can share their story of the transformative power of the arts in their own education and the impact the arts have had on their work and life. Our municipal, education, and state leaders need to know about the impact the arts have on young peoples’ lives and that they must support the arts in every district and every school in America. Both in schools and community settings, learning in and through the arts helps to create ethically and aesthetically rich environments for living and learning. Today the school is known for its excellent faculty, welcoming atmosphere and small class size.
Horne, a classically trained pianist and founder of the Phoenix Baroque Ensemble, hasn’t yet achieved his objective, but he has made progress: He pushed through higher standards for arts education, appointed an arts specialist in the state Department of Education, and steered $4 million in federal funds under NCLB to support arts integration in schools throughout the state.
Evidence of its effectiveness in reducing student dropout, raising student attendance, developing better team players, fostering a love for learning, improving greater student dignity, enhancing student creativity, and producing a more prepared citizen for the workplace for tomorrow can be found documented in studies held in many varied settings, from school campuses, to corporate America.
