The B.S. in EMAC (Electronic Media, Arts, and Communication) is a unique interdisciplinary curriculum that includes courses in communication as well as in digital art and animation, video, electronic music, and graphic design, supported by Rensselaer’s strong technological infrastructure.
Our aim is to equip you with lifelong learning skills that will position you as a leader in the rapidly-evolving communication and media industries and help you remain competitive throughout your career. Therefore, our flexible degree structure enables you to continue with your studies in the humanities and social sciences, and/or languages and still remain enrolled in Media and Communications.
Most of the courses offered by the Arts and Communication Department satisfy requirements for a liberal arts degree. You are interested in the study of arts and culture from many different perspectives. Art and Media Communications combines rigorous and relevant experiential study of modern, post-modern, and contemporary visual art and design with student learning in media literacy and technology applications.
