Cooperate with other arts education agencies and organizations through partnerships to better meet the arts needs of schools throughout the state. With the goal of artistic literacy for all students in Connecticut, the Connecticut Arts Standards set the guidelines for schools, districts, teachers and communities to develop artistically literate citizens. Governor Inslee proclaimed that May is Arts Education Month in Washington State – a time to celebrate arts education, and to bring increased public awareness to the importance of quality arts education for every student, in every school.

The directory is a listing of educational programs offered by arts and cultural organizations and teaching artists within Sarasota County. For over 25 years, BAC’s arts education programs have played a critical role in keeping the arts alive in NYC schools, and in senior and community centers. Our AIPP and Arts in Education program staff are collaborating to help make these connections. The survey found that 97% of New Jersey students have access to arts education in their schools, with music and visual art nearly universally available. Arts education, comprising a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students. The Measuring Up project is a partnership initiative of the NH Department of Education (NHDOE), the NH State Council on the Arts (NHSCA) and the Arts Alliance of Northern NH (AANNH). Parker-Brass built a team to support her arts teachers, and she fine-tuned outside partnerships already in place.

Yet some districts have made great strides toward not only revitalizing the arts but also using them to reinvent schools. Touring programs help artists, groups, arts organizations and performers interested in touring throughout Ontario, in Canada and around the world. Community/Schools Partnership for the Arts (C/SPA) was created in 1996 as an official advisory committee for the Superintendent of the Sarasota County Schools. A panel of arts professionals will review the applications and recommend funding to our Board of Commissioners.
