Worldwide research has shown there are the numerous health benefits to participating in the arts. The topic of arts interventions in medicine, following many years of arts/music activities for children with learning disabilities in hospitals and homes, has come under increased research scrutiny in recent years. Recognise the role of research in community care and the broader health context. These findings suggest that older women who are becoming frail demonstrate perceived health status benefits, most notably in ambulation, after taking part in intensive tai chi exercises. That same year the Trust was offered a venue to lease in the community by the Hamilton City Council at Ward Park Arts & Crafts Centre, in recognition of our work. We conducted a review of current research to determine what is known about art and healing. Grants can only be made to community radio licensees which are broadcasting under a community radio license (and not an RSL, for example). The Group develops, advocates, supports and advises arts projects in Health and Wellbeing settings in the Wessex region.

Later that year at the Dietitians of Canada National Conference in Montreal, I presented with a panel about the creative arts across disciplines and implications for dietetics practice and performed a brief ethnodramatic monologue which shared a client’s memory around eating with family (his brother) and his current lived experience at the resident home.arts and health

Our art and heritage collection is one of the biggest collections belonging to a health charity in the UK. Making The Arts an important part of the way we deliver health services and public health messaging is something I have always been passionate about.
