The Arts in Education Program prepares you to design and deliver arts-based initiatives in our schools and communities. Perhaps the most fundamental element to education one should consider is the manner in which we perceive and make sense of the world in which we live. New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has made arts education a priority in his school reform plans, and the city has launched sweeping initiatives to connect more students with the city’s vast cultural resources. The Master of Education (.) in Arts Education develops critical knowledge of arts theory and practice related to education, program development, and learning and teaching across a range of arts disciplines. A significant number of graduates pursue doctoral degrees and work in higher education as researchers and professors of arts education.arts to education

Several of our faculty members are principal investigators with Project Zero, a landmark research initiative into the arts and education for more than 35 years. Many AIE alumni work in museums as curators and education specialists, while others work for private arts foundations and grantmaking organizations. The level 7 papers in this strand, EDUC711 and EDUC712 assume a more ‘big picture’ of view of education. Conference dates and registration details will be posted on the State Arts Council’s website. I’m entering my 10th year as faculty director of the Arts in Education Program, which is entering its 16th year. Cooperate with other arts education agencies and organizations through partnerships to better meet the arts needs of schools throughout the state.

The arts also teach children that there a several paths to take when approaching problems and that all problems can have more than one solution. Whatever NCLB says about the arts, it measures achievement through math and language arts scores, not drawing proficiency or music skills.
