The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), one of the premier art museums in the United States, is home to more than 60,000 works that comprise a multicultural survey of human creativity from ancient times through the 21st century. I established the Taskforce for Health and The Arts​ to guide the integration of The Arts into NSW’s healthcare system as a whole – including how we provide healthcare, create a sense of place in our health services and work with communities to keep people healthy and out of hospital.

It encompasses a broad spectrum of creativity from participation and socially engaged practice to site-specific art works aimed at enhancing healthcare environments. Investigating the relationship between art and health offers some interesting ways to bridge these 2 important areas of inquiry and perhaps provide timely and important insights into each. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 results have shown that Queen Mary University of London has risen to 9th place among multi-faculty institutions in the UK. The fund offers grants of up to £5,000 through their small grants scheme and grants of over £5,000 through their large grants scheme. Many care homes, GP surgeries and hospitals as well as community settings provide opportunities for people to engage with the arts as a tool to improving their wellbeing. IJCAIP is the worldwide communications hub for open access information about the creative arts in research and interdisciplinary practice.
