We have a fantastic inheritance in Art and Design education going back nearly 200 years as part of our legacy institutions. Arts and Culture graduates work, for instance, as consultants for cultural institutions, policy advisors for governments, journalists and researchers. In 1938, the museum changed its name to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the school became the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art.
Performing arts groups in dance, music and theater allow students to refine and present their skills. Admissions at the University of Arts are realised only by means of competition, the criteria of which have their specifics about the required specialty. Students attending the University of Alabama in Birmingham, for example, participate in internships and a program that draws on the creative resources of Alabama’s largest city, working with local museums and galleries. Its UAL Platform programme provides opportunities for students to stage solo exhibitions, gain experience of curation and work with high profile external arts organisations like the British Museum. Harvard University is accredited by the NEASC-CI HE. Online courses are also available for those who cannot attend it on campus. Our Art and Design subjects are ranked 16th in th Complete University Guide 2017.
Major options include Ancient Studies, Education Studies, Commerce Organization and Entrepreneurship, Engineering, Mathematics, Music, Neuro Sciences, Physics, Theater Arts and Visual Arts. This Arts and Science Institute offers curses in Mathematics, Foreign Language, Computer Science, Economics, Music, Psychology etc.
The Woon Foundation art competition has annual prizes totalling £40,000 and is open to all UK Fine Art graduates, supported by Northumbria University law alumnus, Mr Wee Teng Woon, as well as the Warwick Stafford Fine Art Prize, a legacy from Fine Art graduate, the late Warwick Stafford.
Founded in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the six colleges that make up the university: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, and Wimbledon College of Arts, have international reputations in a range of creative fields.
