Worldwide research has shown there are the numerous health benefits to participating in the arts. The topic of arts interventions in medicine, following many years of arts/music activities for children with learning disabilities in hospitals and homes, has come under increased research scrutiny in recent years. Recognise the role of research in community care and the broader health context. These findings suggest that older women who are becoming frail demonstrate perceived health status benefits, most notably in ambulation, after taking part in intensive tai chi exercises. That same year the Trust was offered a venue to lease in the community by the Hamilton City Council at Ward Park Arts & Crafts Centre, in recognition of our work. We conducted a review of current research to determine what is known about art and healing. The purpose was not to provide a recipe for change nor to dictate the methodologies for transformation but rather to begin to illuminate true stories and create spaces for possibility, innovation and critical thinking that may, even in this early phase of development, lead to eventual change and solutions around caregiving and feeding family that could ultimately improve health and quality of life for caregivers and older Canadians.arts and health

Hightown Community Sports & Arts Centre shares its facilities with local schools, clubs and businesses providing a wide range of sport, leisure and arts activities to meet the needs of the community. The arts help keep kids off the streets, create expectations and set goals, offer opportunities of unique expression, build self-esteem, encourage friendships and camaraderie, create extended families and teach valuable life skills and lessons. The ASSAI is based on a set of program standards that guide schools to implement programs that are school-based, connected to the community, and accessible. Although perfection of technique is necessary in both, the arts operate in a different sphere by communicating profound intellectual and emotional truths. The undergraduate program in art history equips students with the fundamental skills and perspectives of the liberal arts: to think clearly and critically, to write well, and to find, analyze, evaluate, and present facts and ideas. The methodical orientation of these modules allows the central perspectives of art history research to be developed: Image and space concepts, mediality as well as theories and contexts. Both the making of art, the academic history of art, and the history of art museums are closely intertwined with the rise of nationalism.

The undergraduate program is designed both to prepare students for advanced graduate study in the history of art and to provide students with a broad, humanistic background for many other fields that require the ability to undertake independent research, evaluate visual and textual evidence, to write effectively, and create intelligent arguments.history of arts

Art History offices and seminar rooms are located in Fayerweather Hall, where faculty and students enjoy close proximity to the Fralin Museum, Ruffin Hall and the Studio Art program, the Fine Arts Library, and the School of Architecture. In first year, students follow the BA (Omnibus) programme, combining History with three other subjects. Many work as curators, teachers, and administrators in the arts (see Alumni pages). The art and the history of art major is organized into two distinct programs: The History of Art and The Practice of Art.

These scholars were largely responsible for establishing art history as a legitimate field of study in the English-speaking world, and the influence of Panofsky’s methodology, in particular, determined the course of American art history for a generation.
