Welcome to the Arts and Communication Department at Kellogg Community College. While acknowledging that face-to-face communication skills remain crucial in today’s job market, the MACS major also recognizes the central role of technology in career advancement and develops skills in the application of visual art and computer technology to the process of communication.
No other disciplines are better suited to prepare you for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century than Arts and Communication. The School of Arts & Communication offers minors in Communication, History, Humanities-Pelaw, Literature, Music and Textiles. The module traces the history of community arts and provides practical exercises on workshop skills to develop an understanding of the role of music technology in the local community.
Our degree links practical training in media writing; radio, video, online media production; and media relations; with a scholarly and critical education in media and communications theory and practice. Our graduate program is known as a global center for teaching and research in Communication Studies where students come to study with a diverse faculty who publish extensively with top publishers and academic journals. Our course structures also allow for acquisition of expertise in multiple areas, recognising the need for multi-skilling in today’s arts and communications industries.
