Whether you are a student, educator, parent, or principal, you can find a way to celebrate the arts in education during National Arts in Education Week. Artists in Education supports artists from all disciplines and cultures who want to create a hands-on arts education project for learners, including artists who wish to develop skills and gain experience in communities or schools. Provide opportunities for students, educators, parents, and other community members to enter into creative dialogue with professional artists and one another through the arts.

The work takes leadership, innovation, broad partnerships, and a dogged insistence that the arts are central to what we want students to learn. Mr. Morrison is nationally recognized for his pioneering work in measuring the statewide status and condition of arts education and has served as an advisor to several major arts and arts education organizations. Arts Education Artist Roster : The AIE Coordinator oversees the selection of professional artists who work in schools through panel review and demonstration classes. The Arts Education Community Learning, Teacher Training, Funds for At-Risk Youth, and Arts360 Grant Guidelines and Applications are now available.
In 2001, the California Board of Education set standards at each grade level for what students should know and be able to do in music, visual arts, theater, and dance, but a statewide study in 2006, by SRI International , found that 89 percent of K-12 schools failed to offer a standards-based course of study in all four disciplines.

Yet some districts have made great strides toward not only revitalizing the arts but also using them to reinvent schools. Touring programs help artists, groups, arts organizations and performers interested in touring throughout Ontario, in Canada and around the world. Community/Schools Partnership for the Arts (C/SPA) was created in 1996 as an official advisory committee for the Superintendent of the Sarasota County Schools. A panel of arts professionals will review the applications and recommend funding to our Board of Commissioners.
Since 1996, C/SPA has expanded arts education for all students in the Sarasota County Public Schools; secured funding for new programs and equipment for Sarasota County Public Schools; and developed new arts education programs and created positions for additional arts teachers.
